The Art of Dreams – All Media Juried Exhibit at Lawrence Street Gallery
Every night, the mind wanders somewhere the waking world can’t follow. Lawrence Street Gallery invites artists to explore “The Art of Dreams” — an all-media juried exhibit inspired by the vivid, strange, and deeply personal landscape of dreaming. Whether it’s the logic-defying imagery of a dream itself, the feeling of half-remembered fragments, the pull of a recurring vision, or the ambitions and hopes we call dreams in waking life, this call is open to wherever the theme takes you. We welcome submissions from artists at all skill levels and experiences, working in any medium.
We’re looking for interpretation, not illustration — bring us your version of what “dreams” means to you.
The juror for this show will be Garth Glazier.
Garth Glazier graduated from Alma College Michigan with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking and Design. His career path took him into the world of illustration for four decades, working first as a studio artist in Detroit and then as a nationally represented independent illustrator. He has illustrated virtually every subject, from cars to editorial pieces to murals.
As a fine artist, his work tends toward a narrative approach, and as such, many of his paintings seem to fit within a storytelling genre. He likes to think that each of these works of art is a little piece of his own ongoing story as a native of the Great Lakes region. He grew up outside under the trees and in the woods, so to speak, so nature is always front and center. His art is and always will be about storytelling, whether or not it overlaps into what most would call illustration. As a result, his work can seem like a prelude to a story.
Your $35 entrance fee entitles you to consideration for entry to this show. If accepted, the pieces in the exhibit will also be available on the gallery’s website for viewing and purchasing.
