March 2026 Pottery Invitational at Lawrence Street Gallery to Celebrate NCECA
In March 2026, the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) will hold its 60th convention in Detroit. The convention is titled “Volumes,” which will have clay artists from all over the world visiting Detroit. At Lawrence Street Gallery, we will be part of the celebration of community and clay, especially showcasing artists from the Detroit area.
The members of Lawrence Street Gallery have submitted the names of Detroit area ceramic artists for the “Saints, Sinners and Potters Exhibition.” This exhibition is an invitational-only showcase of artists who work in clay and exhibit the very best of composition and technique. We are aiming to showcase artists with a variety of styles and philosophies regarding clay. The members nominated the artists, and are inviting them to participate in the one-month exhibition at Lawrence Street Gallery.
Saints, Sinners and Potters Exhibition is not an official exhibition of NCECA. It is, however, a local community exhibition at a well-established venue in Ferndale, Michigan (12 minutes north of Detroit). The month-long exhibition will have two weekend receptions, two bonus receptions during NECECA, print, and social media.
Saints, Sinners and Potters is not a religious or anti-religious exhibition. The exhibition will showcase the outstanding clay artists in Southeastern Michigan. We hope it will be perceived as a fun, quality and impactful exhibition.

- Key Dates: February 6th – 11:30 pm, Deadline to enter online
- February 14: List of accepted artists and work sent via email to all (estimate).
- Feb 25- Feb 28: Drop off accepted work during Gallery Hours. Pick up some postcards to hand out!
- March 4-27: Show Dates
- Sunday, March 8th: Opening Reception 2:00 to 4:30 pm. Awards at 3:00 pm.
- Sunday, March 22: Mid-Month Reception 2 – 4:30 p.m. People’s Choice Award and Poetry Event at 3:00 p.m.
- Special Closing Week Receptions on Thursday and Friday 5-8:30 pm
- Saturday, March 28 and Sunday March 29 : Pick up Unsold work 12 – 5 pm.
The monetary awards will be determined in person after the show has been hung and announced at the Opening Reception.
- Best in Show $150
- 2nd Place $100
A People’s Choice Award ($75) will also be awarded based on the highest number of visitor votes received between the Opening Reception and the Sunday Mid-Month Reception, and will be announced at the Mid-Month Reception.
