Sabra Skutt-Morman

Sabra Morman (b. 1988) is a multidisciplinary folk artist based in Detroit, Michigan, whose work explores the intersections of resilience, memory, and transformation. Navigating life with a physical disability and shaped by significant personal loss, Morman’s practice is grounded in a philosophy she calls Iridescence, a belief that beauty and possibility emerge through shifting perspectives and the endurance of the spirit.

Morman’s aesthetic is defined by “hand-built” surfaces, where she blends mixed-media embellishments with intricate layering to create a luminous, ethereal glow.

Her formal education in Fine Art and Psychology from the University of Dayton informs her focus on the interconnectedness of human and non-human consciousness, often provoking a dialogue on our relationship with the natural world.

After a successful residency at the Workhouse Arts Center in the Washington, D.C. area, Morman returned to her roots to contribute to Detroit’s creative resurgence. Her work has been featured in exhibitions at the Janice Charach Gallery, Artomatic DC and ArtPrize. For Morman, the act of creation is both a solace and a statement of defiance; her motto remains “Art is a reminder that anything is possible.
