The Body Eclectic '25 An All Media Juried Exhibit Featuring the Figure

Are you ready?  2025 and the first competition of the new year!  The Body Eclectic '25 -an All Media, 2D and 3D Juried Show at Lawrence Street Gallery.  The theme of this annual show is...the human body, in all its shapes and forms and feelings.

The juror for this exhibit will be Carole Morisseau.

Carole Morisseau is a prize-winning American Artist, Most recently her sculpture placed 2nd in the regional Gilda Snowden Memorial Exhibition, 2023 at the Scarab Club – Detroit, MI.

Her work was also selected as “Best in Show” at the Detroit Artists Market, 2020.

Morisseau’s work is represented in local and national collections, including the prestigious collection of CCH. Pounder and Public commissions of Henry Ford Health, University of Detroit Mercy and HGTV. Carole is a Fulbright Hays Fellow GPA to Brazil, 2018. Carole was selected for the Cuttyhunk Island Artist Residency, Massachusetts, 2019. She has been featured in several articles in the Detroit Free Press and the Detroit News. Morisseau sits on the Board of Directors of two historical arts organizations, Scarab Club Detroit (Vice President) and Detroit Artists Market. She has been honored by the Arab American Artists organization as an “Outstanding African American Artist".

Key Dates:

  • Exhibition:  February 5-28,  2025.
  • Entry deadline :  11:30pm Saturday January 4, 2025
  • Notification of invited or declined will be on January 14th.

  • Drop off at the gallery will be January 29 - Feb 1,  '25  during gallery hours.
  • Opening Reception:  Sunday, February 9th, 2:00 - 4:30pm
  • Mid-Month Reception: Sunday, February 23rd, 2:00 - 4:30pm.
    NOTE: RECEPTIONS ARE NOW ON SUNDAYS TO ALLEVIATE PARKING CONCERNS. Parking is free on Sundays in Ferndale.
  • Pick up unsold work:  Saturday, March 1st, 2025.

The monetary awards (Best in Show $150, 2nd Place $100, Honorable Mentions $25 each) will be determined in person by the juror, Carole Morisseau, and announced at the Opening Reception. The Gallery will also award a People's Choice Award ($75), based on the highest number of visitor votes received between the Opening Reception and the Mid-Month Reception, with this announcement at the mid-month reception.
