Pottery and Prints at Lawrence Street Gallery

This month is a diverse display of prints and pottery from 38 artists.  Prints on a variety of surfaces and creative expressions in clay come together.

Our juror is Tracey Priska.

Tracey Priska was born, raised and currently resides in SE Michigan. She started her artistic explorations at a young age. She kept herself entertained many weekends and afternoons, making paper mache sculptures, sewing doll clothes, drawing cartoons, and digging clay in her backyard. She grew up taking any art classes or attending any art camps that could be afforded and this set her up to be a lifelong learner.

She received a BS with a double major in Biology and Art from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where she also ran track and cross-country.
While at UAB, she continued exploring various media and focused much of her time on photography and printmaking.

After five years in the South, she came back to Michigan to be closer to family, got her hands back into clay, began experimenting with glazes and surface design, and realized it felt like a homecoming. The material allowed her playfulness, curiosity, and explorations to grow her artistic voice and provided much joy in the process.

Tracey may be best known for sharing her love and passion with others in the community through her teaching. For the last 20+ years, she has taught art classes and workshops to students of all ages and abilities at many art centers in SE Michigan, most notably Pewabic Pottery and the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center. She tries to provide each student with stepping stones necessary to help build self-confidence and empower them as they develop their own personal artistic language and vision.

Don't forget to wander the rest of the Gallery to see what our 27 regular members have on display as their monthly fresh works of art!
