“Eddies”

When I first started painting abstracts I painted a similar painting that reminded me of water currents – with abstract fish. This, at first, was an attempt to enlarge that idea. Somewhere along the line, my brain decided that larger meant higher as well – so while the movements remained, the location changed. Eddies are reminiscent of the wind eddies or leaf tornadoes that you see in the Fall when the wind whips the fallen leaves into a frenzy. This unexpected result has led to many thoughts and ponderings on similarities and differences of the two “whirlpools” and the nature of air vs. water and where my thoughts must have diverged in those moments in the studio.
Signed on outside edge of canvas and stamped and signed on back.
