In New York State in the mid-1800s, a group of politicians took the name “Barnburners” because they were willing to disrupt or destroy the system to rid it of corruption. The name was derived from a farmer who burned down his barn to rid it of rats.
I was inspired by the great barns of the Midwest, but I wanted to disrupt the image, hence the title “Barnburner.”
