Laura Whitesides Host

Laura Whitesides Host, a native Michigan artist living in Birmingham, Michigan, is one of the founding members of Lawrence St. Gallery, an artist – run gallery, now in its 34th year of business, located in Ferndale, Michigan.  A BFA graduate majoring in painting and ceramics from the University of Michigan’s Architecture and Design College, she continues to paint in water mediums and is also currently actively involved in monotype printmaking.  She is involved in the art community as a board member of the Michigan Water Color Society for many years, a board member of the Birmingham Society of Women Painters and a instructor at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center since 1993 teaching experimental watermedia and printmaking.  Her involvement in Lawrence St. Gallery has enabled Host to help southeast Michigan area artists exhibit their work in juried exhibits and solo shows, which fulfills the gallery’s (and her)  mission.   Host’s work has been in numerous juried competitions as well as in group and solo exhibits
