Suzanne Allen

After teaching writing, literature, and women’s studies in college for over thirty years, I began to make art. At first I concentrated on watermedia, then on monoprinting and most recently on encaustics.  I love incorporating fragments of nature and history into my work, creating new patterns from these old pieces. By focusing on the small pieces of a larger whole, I can explore both the beauty of nature and the complexity of history, especially women’s history.
