My name is Deborah and I’m the artist behind Deborah’s Studio. I have been painting and creating for over 40 years. It wasn’t until a couple years ago that I began selling my work. I’m excited to share my work with others.
My love for art began in grade school and continued through high school where I had the most fantastic art teacher from Italy, Mr. Mann. He was an unbelievable artist and had a huge influence on me; he taught me how to let my art flow. My time with Mr. Mann is when I began to paint some of the florals you can see in my studio today. During my college years I continued to paint. I also began sculpting and learned to paint nudes and fell in love with both of those.
My love for florals also came from my grandmother and her beautiful garden. Later in her life, she became an amazing oil painter, creating landscaping scenes. When I was younger, she gave me a photograph of the Roelofs Gallery in Belgium. Willem Roelofs was a phenomenal artist, painting mostly landscapes. He always believed artists should do landscaping first to get the feel of nature. I was surprised to hear this since this is how both my grandmother and I began.
I spent most of my career in the interior design industry. The environment was so creative, I never minded going to work. My hands were always into art. I have always found myself painting and creating. I loved creating costumes for my kids or filling in as a school art teacher. Art relaxes me, it’s a way of life for me.
Today, I continue to paint, draw and sculpt. Much of my work is inspired by Europe and nature, thanks no doubt to my grandmother and Mr. Mann!
